Saw a billboard today. Said “Jesus – The Problem Solver.”
Jesus, the problem solver?
I don’t think Jesus is ‘the problem solver.’
I think that is a dangerous ‘character reduction.’
That title portrays Jesus as the solution to all your problems… but is He?
The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.”
Do you think Job would have called Jesus a problem solver?
Assyrian International News Agency (Posted GMT 6-6-2012 15:43:55): Liberal talk show host Tawfiq Okasha recently appeared on “Egypt Today” airing a video of Muslims slicing a young man’s head off for the crime of apostasy, in this case, the crime of converting to Christianity and refusing to renounce it.
This was today, folks. Today. This video is on youtube.
Jesus was the beginning of this man’s problems (Well… praise the LORD, He did solve them, too).
We apparently have to convey Jesus as a genie… a rainbow… a problem solver…
Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name. For it is time for judgment to begin with God’s household; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And,
“If it is hard for the righteous to be saved,
what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?”
So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.
1 Peter 4:12-19
This man had a knife at his throat and refused to deny Christ. Refused. PRAISE THE LORD that this man is in Heaven.
We don’t even know the beginning of problems. And to call Jesus a problem solver?
YEAH… RIGHT.
